The EUROMETAL mission is to develop, communicate and defend positions regarding the major issues for European steel and metal distribution as stakeholder in the European markets – especially taking into account the new paradigma for steel.

MetSkill is the strategic skills body for the metals industry and works to achieve measurable and sustainable improvements in business performance for the industry. We represent every part of the metals industry from metals production to recycling, stockholding and distribution, in every part of the UK.


The National Metals Technology Centre (NAMTEC) was established to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the metals and related engineering industries throughout the UK. We have endeavoured to do this by developing an organisation of the highest calibre that is able to provide an innovative technical support programme to these industries and deliver direct economic benefit to the UK’s manufacturing base.
A key part of NAMTEC’s role is to facilitate the transfer of technical information and knowledge between industry and academia, to the mutual benefit of both parties. Our work in this area has led to the creation of new industry-academic partnerships and the creation of a series of collaborative research programmes ranging from the development of high strength magnesium alloys for automotive applications through to the introduction of novel metal-polymer composite structures into the construction sector.


SEMTA (Science, Engineering & Manufacturing Technologies Alliance) is the Sector Skills Council for Science, Engineering and Manufacturing Technologies sector. Led by the sectors, for the sectors, SEMTA works to raise skills levels of each of the 100,000 businesses and 2 million employees in the nine sectors represented.

ISTA, the International Steel Trade Association, represents the international steel trading interests of mills, stockholders and independent traders as well as steel/raw material derivative traders. Service providers - including shipping companies, marine and credit insurance brokers, law firms, and information providers - are Associate members.
ISTA, which advocates free trade balanced with fair trade, represents members at meetings with the British government and European Commission. It also has a programme of training courses, mill and end-user visits, and networking events. ISTA's annual lunch held in London in early December is the largest such event in Europe


UK Steel is a national division of Make UK and the trade association for the UK steel industry. It represents the industry to policy and opinion formers, promotes the industry and the importance of steel to the public and provides information and services to its members.
